What is a Refurbished PC?

A refurbished PC is simply a personal computer that had some kind of malfunction  that was fixed and is now being resold. There are many different types of refurbishments that can happen. A simple fix is just replacement of the part in question, and maybe a look over at the other components to make sure that everything is working fine. It could be that there was nothing really wrong with the PC itself, but needed upgrades to memory, graphics, or the main processor. If you are wondering whether or not these are a good idea to purchase, it really depends on several factors.

While there are some people who would never buy a refurbished PC, others stand by them. There are some advantages as well as disadvantages to buying these computers. In many cases, they are simply computers that were ordered, and never purchased, or returned for some reason. Many companies that get returns completely go through the computer, cleaning it, upgrading, and completely repairing any problems. These are totally re-manufactured, really, and you can save hundreds of dollars buying them. In many cases you can’t have the computer customized, and have to deal with whatever is available. In many cases, to save money, they don’t have to same state of the art technological components that a brand new model would have. If you need a super fast computer, that has all the bells and whistles for online gaming, or downloading information without having to wait, then a refurbished computer may not be right for you.

There are many reasons for and against a refurbished PC. Some people are on a tight budget, and just can’t afford to spend three thousand dollars on a brand new, state of the art computer. Others are purchasing a computer just for basic needs, or as a spare computer for their children to do school work on. If this is the case, buying a quality reconditioned computer would make sense.

There are some things that you need to consider if you are looking for a refurbished PC. Make sure that the computer refurbish person is a qualified dealer, and has a good reputation. Try to avoid hole in the wall sellers, or people who are working at home. Make sure that you know what the computer’s operating system is. The operating system should be at least a Windows 5 or 6, and hopefully Vista at the very least. Anything lower isn’t going to have the speed to perform right for you, and many software products won’t even operate on 95 or less.

In many cases, there is nothing wrong with buying a refurbished PC. If you need just the basics, or have some kind of budget constraints, these can be a great starter computer while you save up for a better model. You just have to be patient and really look around for the computer and supplier that is right for you.

Buying Tips For Used Computer Systems

They return it but it can’t be sold as new because the box has been opened. Of course there are also refurbished ones that were returned because they didn’t work properly.

While refurbished computer systems are sometimes from being repaired, they are repaired fully back to factory specifications. All the internal components are cleaned up, replaced with newer parts if needed, and thoroughly checked to make sure the unit is functioning properly before being resold. Sometimes, you may even find computers that are still under factory warranty, and depending on the refurbisher, may even include an in house warranty as well.

Still, there are some things to keep in mind when buying refurbished computer systems. One of them is that you need to make sure that you are buying from a qualified dealer, or through a reputable program. You also have to consider your budget, and that many of these computers come just as the PC, without monitor, keyboard, or mouse. This means that you have to budget in these components as well. The next consideration is of course price. If you just need a computer for emails, word processing, or as a secondary unit for your kids, you can probably get one for around $400. If you are looking for a product that has a speedy processor, gaming graphics and a fast downloading speed, these will cost you up to a thousand dollars.

Lastly, there are two different types of refurbished computer systems to consider. One is the refurbished computer. These computers were returned by customers who took them out of the box, tested or used them. Maybe there was a problem, or just wasn’t what they were looking for. The manufacturer does a thorough inspection, makes any repairs needed, replaces anything that is missing or incomplete, and certifies that the computer is now in excellent working order. They then repackage and sell the product as refurbished. These systems are great quality, and are good as or nearly new.

Recertified computers are not units that were simply returned and are still brand new. They are inspected and certified that they are still in great condition, and that all the components are still there. They are tested, repackaged, and sold as Recertified, or ‘As New.’ These are really the highest quality of refurbished computer systems available.
